The Superpower TEDish Talk

This is the talk that inspired the Superpower Alliance. I'm part of the EFT Supervisor Collaborative (a group of EFT Supervisors that meets monthly to connect and learn together). The Collaborative asked for people to volunteer to do a 7 minute "TEDish" Talk. I put my name in the hat (so scared), and this is that talk. I want all of you to listen to this and ask yourself this question: "What is the thing I used to hide (or maybe still want to hide) that I can now embrace? Can I bring that to this group?" I really believe our superpowers lie in our vulnerabilities.

That Relationship Show Interview

That Relationship Show (an amazing podcast hosted by two EFT Supervisors) had me on as a guest to talk about Betrayal Trauma. This is that episode. Make sure to check out all their episodes and add it to your podcast subscription if you haven't already. They are very generous hosts who actually let their guests talk! While a guest on this show, I was actually flushing more out in real time, so some of the concepts we talk about in this episode are not necessarily in the video series. We were collaborating in real time! A sign of a very good host. Deb (one of the hosts) emailed me and shared that a client of hers listened to this episode (this client had an affair) and came to the next session completely different. This client got it - what his partner was experiencing - and had empathy for it! That email was music to my ears.

EFT Intensive E-Course Discount!

I created this course because I was getting so many requests to coach EFT therapists on how to do an intensive. I thought, “This is a huge need! Let's just do a live training and turn it into a course.” So I did! You'll see me walk through things to think about from screening all the way to follow-up work. I updated the course on October 30, 2023, so it includes any new best practices I've learned in the three years since releasing the original version. It also comes with paperwork templates and organizing tools to help get you started.

Betrayal Trauma Video Series: Buy 1, Get 1 Free to Give to a Client

Here's my other e-course that was created out of a huge need. As I worked with betrayal trauma (infidelity, pornography addiction, etc.), I looked for resources for the injured partner. Nothing I found was helpful. I really wanted something from a Bonding Science perspective, and it just wasn't out there. So, I created 37 videos and journal prompts to help validate and soothe the injured partner. I wanted people suffering from this to understand that what's happening can be explained from a neuroscience perspective. I'm hoping it takes the shame out of their trauma responses. The videos are topical and short. Someone in the wake of betrayal trauma can listen to it at their own pace and listen again to the ones they need the most. The response from this video series has blown me away. Therapists are purchasing it more than anyone (even though it wasn't meant to be a training)! Also, the partner that stepped out of the relationship is benefiting! They have more compassion and get why their partner is acting "so crazy." For this reason, I've created a discount for therapists. Buy one video series and get a free one to give away to a client! Click here and scroll to the bottom to purchase the therapist deal.

The Leading Edge Podcast

Two EFT Trainers, Ryan Rana and James Hawkins, break down EFT in a very tangible, accessible way. I've had supervisees bring things they learn from this podcast to supervision. It's a wonderful teaching tool!

Foreplay Radio Podcast

EFT and sex. My good friend Laurie Watson has teamed up with George Faller to dive into sex from an attachment lens. This podcast is extremely popular and it deserves every recognition! This is a good one to listen to as a growing therapist and it's also good to recommend to clients!

Kelly's Introduction

Success in Vulnerability

George Faller leads in short, digestible modules to break down EFT and help clinicians keep focus. People on my team have really benefited from George's teachings and the accessible format of the modules.

We Heart Therapy

Annabelle Bugatti, EFT Supervisor, hosts this YouTube series - interviewing EFT Trainers on different topics. This is a wonderful free resource! I used to listen to these on my commute.

Kelly's Comments: Highly Recommended Video!

Understanding Ambivalence

I can't tell you how many times I've shared this video! If you have a couple (or one partner in a coupleship) that's on the fence about their relationship, this video with George Faller and Wesley Little is a must watch! It helped me forever reframe ambivilance.

Kelly's Introduction to Wesley

Becoming a Therapist

Wesley Little is a very good friend of mine. We met at an EFT training in Nashville. I was already following her blog and I immediately recognized her and asked her to have lunch with me. We've stayed in touch ever since. Wesley is an EFT Supervisor in North Carolina and I just eat up every word that she writes. Subscribe to her blog now and follow everything she does! I promise you won't regret it. She is in remission for cancer, so she isn't as frequent in her writing. She's also on That Relationship Show talking about using Deliberate Practice in supervision. It's such good stuff!

Kelly's Review

EFT Cafe

This was a game changer for me - it helped me progress from mediocre EFT to great EFT. Watching Kathryn Rheem (EFT Trainer) work and getting a more realistic expectation of what this practice needs to look like is exactly what I needed. I personally also needed to see a woman do EFT and hear a woman describe her moves. Before this, most of my EFT mentors were men - men that I love, but still...I just needed to be able to put myself vicariously in the chair as a woman. Even if you don't join The EFT Cafe, I recommend signing up for their newsletter. Lots of great nuggets in there!

EFT Facebook Group, Kelly's Review

Emotionally Focused Therapy Facebook Group

Rebecca Jorgensen facilitates this EFT Facebook group with over 7,000 members. This is the best of the EFT Facebook groups (in my opinion). Rebecca is an active moderator of the group, so it's very well run and has little drama. She also comments often, so it's nice to hear from a trainer with those hard to answer EFT questions.

If you live in Tennessee (or even the surrounding states), we would love for you to join this email listserv! Leanne Campbell (EFT Courses Online)

Leanne Campbell is possibly my favorite EFT Trainer. She's a genius, and her enthusiasm for the work is extremely contagious. Click on her picture and that link will send you to her EFT online courses. If you can't make a live training of hers, enrolling in an online training of hers is an amazing second-best option.

Process of EFT for Couples

I created this 13-minute video for our clients at Red Therapy Group. We are committed to being transparent with all our couples about what we're doing with them. This video explains the stages of EFT and why they're relevant to the client. For example, don't stop therapy when you get relief! Stage 2 is where it's at for lasting change! Feel free to use this video as a template and create your own (or you can use it as is for your own practice). (Fun fact - my 11-year-old edited it with graphics. She's so proud!)

Attachment Intent with Confusing Withdrawers/Pursuers

Kristie Carpenter, PhD, LMFT and I did a quick little role play to help EFT therapists figure out who's who when it comes to confusing presentations. Is that a withdrawer? Or a soft pursuer? Pursuer? Or a reactive withdrawer? Click the link to watch (and be entertained).
